Grant Williams, Vice-President of the Kansas Authors Club, presented the Kansas State History Award for having the best historical novel in the state of Kansas for the year to Richard Paul Tanos for his book titled, - "The Best Ever!" The book is a centennial celebration in Montgomery County for 100 years of fair-races-rodeo in the historic city of Coffeyville.
It's over, the 100 years of Fair-Races-Rodeo is now history. The book "The Best Ever!" was sold to many visitors to the event. Copies are now available to the residents of Coffeyville at various locations throughout the city, including the Chamber of Commerce.
Saturday, October 2, 2006, in Junction City, Kansas, Richard received a special achievement award during the annual Kansas Authors Club's convention where Jonathan Holden, Kansas Poet Laureate was the keynote speaker. The award was presented for his outstanding work over the past year in southeastern Kansas.
Richard's novel, "Why Coffeyville?" has been a huge success locally. The book also contains several shorts, "The Sights and Sounds of Coffeyville," written by the Coffeyville Night Writers.
